I like using Easy Glide glass cleaner which can be bought locally at any Home Depot store. If you want to mix your own you can try equal parts of vinegar, alcohol and water and use a spray bottle.

As a good practice I move any plants, curtains and furniture that will be in the way of cleaning windows on the inside and put down a drop cloth or a plastic trash bag. Use a vacuum with the brush attachment to clean the floor surrounding each window including the track.

Then I go ahead and wash the window and sill. I have found that Magic Eraser pads work great to remove any dirt and grit. I wet from the outer edge of the window in to the center as to prevent excess dripping.

After the window is wet, I use a razor blade then a scrubbing wand to loosen the dirt. Next dry the window by using a squeegee with the extension pole if necessary. Remember to use the squeegee in an identical direction while working from top to bottom.

The last step I do is dry all the edges with a micro-fiber cloth rag. Then I gather up all tools, this includes the drop cloth and start another windowrecommended you read.
